Patrick Swayze - She's like the Wind

"She's Like the Wind" was a 1987 hit pop/rock song performed by actor Patrick Swayze featuring Wendy Fraser. The song was co-written by Swayze and Stacy Widelitz in 1984, originally for the soundtrack of "Grandview, USA". It was not, however, used in that film. During production of "Dirty Dancing" in 1986, Swayze played the demo for the producers and director. They loved it, and passed it on to Jimmy Ienner, the executive producer of the soundtrack. It was recorded for the soundtrack in November of 1986, with Michael Lloyd producing. The song, like the film in which it was featured, was a success, reaching #3 on Billboard Hot 100, #1 on Adult Contemporary, and was a hit around the world. It is still in circulation on radio. The soundtrack album was #1 for nineteen weeks. The music video in black and white features clips from the movie Dirty Dancing and overlaid images of Patrick Swayze and Wendy Fraser. The video can be seen on the Ultimate Dirty Dancing DVD.

To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
